How do we know if we need the cable too ?
The Majority of the time it is just the bushings. Simply disconnect and inspect bushing at each end (both the transmission end as well as the upper gear selector end of shift cable) if bushings are fully intact then inspect the length of the shift cable for cuts or breaks.
Which kit for 2912 chevy eqinox?
Not sure what year you are actually meaning - so I have included here the link to both kits: www.bushingfix.com/chevrolet-equinox-shift-cable-bushing-options/. Be sure to open the link be sure to read - are you replacing the lower end at transmission or the upper end inside the vehicle near base of gear selector knob?
Are you in a library? Speak up man
Hahaha! Thank you I will be sure to share that with him! Unfortunately many of the 1000s of videos have corrupted audio files; until we have repaired them here are the step by step written instructions: www.bushingfix.com/je1kit/.
So I just need the kit do I have to buy shift shaft seal?
Depends on what is wrong with your vehicle. If you have inspected the shift cable ends and determined the bushings need replaced then our kit will handle that and wouldn't require another part. The Shift Shaft seal I'm not quite sure what you are meaning?
My 2008 Ls 460 won’t shift into drive but it runs I wonder if it’s my shift cable what tools will I need to repair?
here's the link to the kit that would fit the upper end of your shift cable on the 2008 ls460; automatic transmission: www.bushingfix.com/lexus-ls460-shift-cable-bushing-kit/. And here is the link to instructions for installation typically you need no other tools once you have accessed cable: www.bushingfix.com/bp1kit/. I hope this answers your question. If not we are listed on www.bushingfix.com. Our hours M-F 9 a.m. -4p.m. EST.
How do you get the linkage end off of the shifter cable to do the install?
If you google your year of Fiat and the words accessing shift cable you can pull up videos or results similar to this: www.bing.com/search?q=gaining+access+to+shift+cable+on+Fiat+500&form=ANNTH1&refig=bdbd61dbc7384d9b8f314fa9b6f68b82&pc=LCTS
@@BushingfixFL thanks I was able to remove it, it definitely had to come out to insert the new bushing, was impossible to insert while the cable end was in the car
Hey can you respond? I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4wd with the separate shifter on the center floor just left of the "P R N D 2 1" gear shift lever on the center floor console area and my 4wd Shifter is stuck in part-time will not go to 2wd, the one on the left hand side that shows "2wd - Part-time 4wd - Neutral - 4wd - 4wd High - 4wd Low" Shifter. Is this the Shifter you are working on in the video? How can I find the right part. Having a hard time finding this bushing at a auto store for my model. (Thank you for the reply) If I get one. Jeff :)
What you are referring to is the shifter to the transfer case that enables the 4x4. Here is the link to our website for transfer case bushing for your year, make and model: www.bushingfix.com/jeep-grand-cherokee-transfer-case-shift-cable-repair-kit/. Also potentially a faster way to obtain it is through Amazon Prime if you have that account or know someone who does: search for WJ1Kit Prime. This kit fits: Jeep Grand Cherokee (Fits both ends of the 4X4 cable.) 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004
@@BushingfixFL you got 4 choices on your web site. Which one would I need? Thanks for replying
Where can I buy this kit, link?
Several places: ebay.com; Amazon Prime; standard amazon; Bonanza, Walmart.com; and of course our website: www.bushingfix.com. Also, here is a pickup location map just in case it is in stock close to you: www.bushingfix.com/pick-up-locations/

WAS MY COMMENT QUESTION TO OWNER DELETED? i JUST CAME BACK AND ITS GONE?
What was your question? I don't see it held as spam nor present?
My car revs a bit and then it makes a loud banging noise as it does get into gear, do you this is this due to the shifter cable bushing being blown out idk if it is cuz I ain’t no mechanic so I don’t really know if that is it
You never showed where the hell this is located on the car. 🤦🏿♂️
Good morning! If you don't know where or what the transmission shift cable does and it's location we are glad to help you! The shift cable runs from interior of car at base of gear selection knob and then to the exterior through working mechanisms to connect as a line of communication to the transmission. If on your specific year, make and model you google example: 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis transmission shift cable diagram it pulls up full diagram from manufacturer. I have included link for this result here: www.bing.com/images/search?q=2008+Grand+marquis+transmission+shift+cable+diagram&form=HDRSC4&first=1

Colors can vary.
Easy like Sunday morning❤
I'm hoping I can find this locally, as snail mail and UPS/FedEx take way too long to get where I am.
Our parts are also available on Amazon Prime if you have or have access to a Prime account. If not here is a link to all of our pickup locations: www.bushingfix.com/pick-up-locations/. I would suggest calling with which kit you need and asking before you drive.
@@BushingfixFL Nothing listed for my area code. Prime takes as long as two weeks for Hawaii. Looks like I might be getting the entire cable. Thanks.
@@BushingfixFL I tried ordering from your site but there didn't seem to be a way to figure out what the shipping would cost and how long it would take to deliver so I found the same ones on Ebay, which always seems to take less time to get to us than Amazon Prime.
Did you still put a bushing on the new cable, or is that green part already the bushing?
Our kits are to replace in a shift cable bad or decayed bushings. Often if you have ordered a new shift cable it may or may not come with bushings. So if ordering a new shift cable always ask ..... manufacturers such as Ford GM Nissan Toyota all the majors do provide bushings with new shift cables; but several of the aftermarket companies do not. Is this what you were asking?
I have a 2015 checy cruze LT and need a kit for my shifting cable. What kind of kit do i need and where do i purchase one
You dont' mention whether it's automatic or manual and we have both. Here is the link to our website and all Chevy vehicles; find your Cruze whether under auto or manual; click on that name it takes you to the correct bushing: www.bushingfix.com/chevroletmodel We sell them on www.bushingfix.com; Ebay; Walmart.com; Amazon and Amazon Prime; as well as Bonanza. Also we have several pickup locations across the US. Here's the link simply enter your city and state and it will tell you if someone near you stocks our bushings - if so call them after determining which kit you need: www.bushingfix.com/pick-up-locations/
Any idea where this is located on a 14 explorer sport?
The Shift cable runs from the interior of your Sport at base of gear selection knob and continues as a line of communication to connect to the transmission. here is a link to diagrams of 2014 Sport shift cables: www.bing.com/images/search?q=shift+cable+diagram+2014+explorer+sport&qpvt=shift+cable+diagram+2014+Explorer+Sport&form=IGRE&first=1
@@BushingfixFL thank you after watching a couple of your videos showing it on top of the trans on an escape under the airbox I was able to find it in the same place on my Explorer, replaced the bushing and I'm all fixed up
I rarely give a review about a product, either good or bad. However, I HIGHLY recommend these folks & their products. Rita was very helpful in making sure that I ordered the correct kit & got the best deal on expedited shipping. I wish that I had more than 2 hands, so that I could give them more than 2 thumbs up! Since I travel for work, I'll be ordering a kit to keep in the glove compartment, just in case.
Thank you so much for this! -Rita at BushingFix
If this need replacing what issues will it cause to the gears ?
The 100% sure way of knowing if it is the bushing is to inspect first the easiest to access end (typically the transmission end) disconnect from pin if still attached and look to see if bushing is intact or broken or even totally gone. Typically at the upper end or interior end at base of gear selection knob the shifter is referred to as sloppy shift or loosely moving with no engagement to position of gear choice.
Caviler or corvette??
The kit as shown in this specific video is our UP1kit. It fits several GM products; and here is a link to the full line up of models which does include the Cavalier: www.bushingfix.com/up1kit/. Hope this helps!
Would this fix my problem with my 08 cadillac cts... Everytime i have it on drive, when i come to a stop, sometimes it goes into neutral. Not sure why
Definitely could be. The ONLY 100% way to know is to inspect your bushings. The easiest one is at transmission end of cable; the other is inside at bases of gear selection knob.
What year lincolns are we talking about here?
With our expansive offerings the best way to more fully answer your question - here is the link to the full Lincoln lineup; www.bushingfix.com/lincoln/ simply click your model and all fitments by year are shown:

Do you mean you need a short and brief explanation? or found the video to be short and brief? Please let us know if you need further assistance.
took awhile to find the new style clip video thank god you made one haha I almost took a pry bar to that bitch🤣
No volume and you start in the middle of the repair instead of showing the symptoms, locations of parts, etc.
We start with the installation of what we sell. On our website here is the link with the symptoms and what our replacement bushings repair: www.bushingfix.com/about-the-fix/ our phone number is there as well. We would be glad to assist you with diagnosis if you would like to call us or email us at sales@bushingfix.com
Where you get bushing from?
We provide several ways: www.bushingfix.com; Amazon; Amazon Prime; Ebay; Walmart.com; Bonanza; AND here is a link to pickup locations across united states (simply enter your address to see if there is one close to you): www.bushingfix.com/pick-up-locations/. Or call us from number on website and we will place for you. Whatever works best for you!
I see how easy installing the bushing into the cable is. But I have no true dea where to find the cable on my car, but this job can be done in Fifteen minutes. Can you show a diagram or how did you take it apart, as I understand it is to be in a tight space.
Even better! Google your specific year, make, and model along with words Shift Cable Diagram and it pulls up TONS OF diagrams! Heres an example of what occurs when I searched 2007 Buick Rendezvous Shift Cable Diagram: www.bing.com/search?q=2007+Buick+Rendezvous+Shift+Cable+Diagram&form=ANNTH1&refig=04b905627db04ba7a19dd16b8929ca7f&pc=LCTS
Ordered and received in 1 day ... AWESOME customer service ... super easy install!!
Great to hear the news on arrival! We appreciate your post and review~
This video was virtually zero help.
So sorry! Most folks find the videos helpful but when not applicable to your particular needs or preference there are the written with diagram instructions on the small card; as well as detailed instructions on our website for those who need further assistance: www.bushingfix.com/si2kit-green-bushing/. And of course then the telephone! We are always willing to guide you through the installation. This kit fits both transmission as well as shifter ends of cables so we do realize it's not as cut and paste as might be most comfortable for our DIY customers. Feel free to call us anytime.
I used the green insert. Does it matter green or black bushing?
If the kit you ordered has a different colored bushing than photo but all other identifiers are same then the color difference would simply be a variation or quality control that we put in place per each production run. If on an Si2kit you are asking of the black (softer bushing) vs other bushing then the answer is the other bushing (not black soft bushing) is preferred for transmission end of the cable.
Thank you
Where do I get this bushing from ?
Several ways: on our website www.bushingfix.com; or call us and we can place the order for you; or Ebay; Amazon; and Amazon Prime; Bonanza and also at one of our many of our customers listed here on our location pickup map: www.bushingfix.com/pick-up-locations/. Just type in your address and it will show you if there is a location near you.
Does this actually solve a loose prindl? It shifts but the actual shifter is loose it has play in it
Yes our bushings repair what is commonly referred to as "sloppy shifter".
If it's for trucks THEN PUT THAT IN THE TITLE !!!! IDIOT
My 2016 promaster started shifting to N when i was on D stopped at traffic lights. Took many restart to get it locked on D. Does this video address the issue?
Odds are that YES a deteriorated bushing is at the crux of your concern. However, the only way to be 100% certain - is to inspect the cable end nearest gear selection knob.
@@BushingfixFL Thx for the quick respond! Do I inspect both ends, one under the car, and one near the gear stick?
link for order partds
Here is the link to Order Now www.bushingfix.com/order-now/. When opened choose manufacturer, then model when page opens choose year and be sure to note which end of cable the part fits. Example: At upper end of shift cable nearest the gear selection knob, or the lower end that connects to the transmission.
How did you get the shifter off
Google or you tube your year make and model and how to access shift cable linkage.
How did you remove the shifter? I can't install the piece with it still attached to the cable. If I can take it apart like in the video it might be helpful
It would be helpful if we had full access to every year, make and model. However that is feasible. Google or you tube your year make and model and how to access shift cable linkage plenty of detailed diagrams and videos available.
Will this cause shift to park issues?
It certainly can. Basically in simplest of terms the shift cable is the line of communication between where you select the gear and what gets communicated to the transmission. So if the bushings are defective most often the communication doesn't happen. The easiest way to confirm if this is your issue: disconnect the shift cable from transmission end of cable and inspect the bushing, if intact then go to the upper end of the shift cable. The end connected to gear selection knob and do same thing. If you feel it to be the upper end then start there.
I know this is 10 years old, but it was the most helpful, simple video to fix this problem. $20 and 30 min and my potential nightmare was fixed. Worst part was the stupid air intake.
So appreciate your post!
Was this causing slip out of gear in first gear?
There are many symptoms and yes that is one. The ONLY way to guarantee whether it's the bushing is to disconnect the easiest end first and inspect bushing at TRANSMISSION end of cable. If all is well with the health of the bushing then reconnect; and go to upper end of cable at base of gear selector knob. Most likely it's the bushing that is bad but could be either one.
Mumbled… no sound!
Oh those early vids! We are in process of going through and updating but UNTIL then here is the link to all of the installation instructions; written step by step for an easy installation.www.bushingfix.com/instructions/
Where's it at on the car!
The shift cable runs from the interior of the car at the base of the gear selection knob and connects ultimately to the transmission. Google your specific year, make and model and shift cable diagram and it will pull up diagrams specific to your car.
Is this actually a montana cause it looks nothing like what i am dealing with cable and lines wise
It is. For your specific model of Montana simply google diagram for shift cable and year and model and it will pull up.
So that’s for when the stick is off right like I put it in drive but it’s in neutral still?
Bushings can be for two reasons: 1. broken communications to transmission 2. Sloppy Shifter
What year is the jeep you're working on???
Here is the link to all Jeep Grand Cherokee offerings from 1993-2021. www.bushingfix.com/jeep-grand-cherokee-shift-cable-bushing-options/
I brought it but when i installed it cable doesn't go in park gotta start it in natural helpppppp
Yes, we received your email and responded with many questions. Such as which end of cable did you replace bushing? How long since truck was operational? Have you inspected both ends of shift cable for bushing defects? Have you inspected entire length of shift cable? Is the cable length adjusted properly so that gears move freely?
Thanks for this. It saved me. Hardest part was digging out the old bushing. 20 minutes for that, 20 seconds for popping the new one in.
Glad it helped
